Meeting 26

Icebreaker

Do you prefer games to be realistic, or unrealistic?

VR....?

Google Glass....
Metaverse....
ARGs...

Tuesday, Aug. 4, is the Lutz showcase!

I need finished work and works-in-progress to put on your websites, by the end of Monday's meeting.

Our schedule for next week

Monday:
Last regular work-day.
We'll be getting projects to a point that they can be displayed on your website.

Tuesday:
Lutz Showcase.
Teens will be invited to check out other programs in the building, but we'll probably have more work time.

Wednesday:
Adv Game Design showcase.
We'll spend time checking out our own work, amongst ourselves.

Thursday:
Free day.
We relax, play games, and enjoy ourselves.

ASM for the fall term

Online applications will open in late August.

Fall programs will run September 28–December 12.

(My own program will probably be on Tues/Wed/Fri, but I haven't received a schedule yet).

When you are applying to new programs, I recommend emailing the instructor after you finish applying online. We instructors do pay attention to this.

Attending interview sessions is important when you are trying to join a new program. We instructors prioritize the teens we have had a chance to meet.

If you are interested in rejoining a program, reach out to the instructor. We instructors give returning teens VIP priority.

Things to do after you finish your current project

Video games (Construct, Roblox)

  • Transform game graphics into animations
  • Start screen, with separate sdtk
  • Game sound fx
  • HUD layer (score, health, progress)
  • Add hidden / easter-egg levels

Twine story/games:

  • Add more graphics
  • Add SDTK music
  • Add an intro screen
  • Change colors with CSS code (I can help with this)
  • Add easter-egg storylines

    Twine tricks

Character graphics:

  • Add to the wealth of character / img designs in your collection
  • Transform still images into animations

3D modeling:

Other ideas:

  • Join an existing team that needs some help
  • Rework an older game
  • Create a new quick-and-fun game project that you can finish by next week
  • Start new long-term game project (you'll have access to Construct until Sept. 25, btw)

Any progress we can look at after the game break?

It's Jayden's last day!
