International Museum of Surgical Science Presents "Organic Produce: A Gut Show"
"Organic Produce" runs from June 17 - August 23, 2000 in Galleries 1 and 2, showcasing a spectrum of work by Chicago artists and their investigation of the world of guts. "Organic Produce" is part of the museum's rotating gallery project: "Anatomy in the Gallery".
This show includes a wide array of physical, psychological, emotional and conceptual approaches in a variety of media: painting, sculpture, collage and sound. E.C. Brown, the show's coordinator, says, "It is our pleasure to create within a museum of scientific surgical advancements, an unscientific gathering of artworks about guts - the human organic interior, its tissues and textures...even its sensations. [These works] cast an innovative light on our guts, the unseen inhabitants of the body...but quite often the source of concern, repulsion, attraction, and awe."
The International Museum of Surgical Science is located at 1524 N. Lake Shore Drive Chicago, Il 60610. Their phone number is 312.642.6502
