Project 3: Personal Interactive Theory
Due: Week 11 (4/18)
Your answers must be typed on separate paper.
A .doc/.pdf version will eventually be linked to your portfolio site.
You must turn in no less than 1.5 pages of good, solid writing.
Write a paper in which you define your own theories and concepts of interactivity. Remember, the name of the game is to create a “theory” (or, if you prefer, “thesis”). This does NOT need to be a set of ideas that is completely true for everyone. It's better to make your theory specific and provocative than safe and correct.
The following questions are optional starting-points:
How is your definition of interactivity different from what you perceive to be a
public (or professional) understanding of interactivity?
When does interactivity become useful and worthwhile for the participant?
When does interactivity fail?
What is your personal stake in seeing media (or certain forms of media) become
more interactive?
How can a designer manage to be self-expressive (or satisfy other personal goals)
while working with interactive formats?
